What's New

1.2 – Oct 30, 2026

  • Network Block Device for Windows VMs
Windows VMs now support Network Block Device (NBD) disks, so you can install Windows directly onto a disk served over the network. NBD disks you add are saved to the VM configuration.

  • Shift+F10 in Special Keys
The Special Keys panel on the live screen now has a Shift+F10 button, which opens the context menu in Windows guests, useful for accessing the Shift+F10 sign-in bypass option during Windows installation.

  • Start Opens Live Screen from Detail View
On tablets, clicking Start in the VM detail screen now opens the immersive live screen, the same as Start in the list. Headless VMs and VMs with the display turned off are not opened.

  • Windows Filter Chip in VM List
The VM list and grid now have a Windows filter chip next to macOS and Linux. The Linux chip now shows only Linux VMs, so Windows VMs no longer appear under it.

1.1 – Oct 20, 2026

  • Windows 11 Virtual Machines:
VirtualProg now supports running Windows 11 ARM64 VMs on Apple silicon Macs. Monitor and control them from the app.

  • Resume-Only Control for Paused & Suspended VMs
A paused or suspended VM now shows only the Resume button in the VM detail screen, matching the list menu. Stop is no longer offered until the VM is running again.

  • Progress Indicator for VM Actions
After you request a VM action, its buttons show a progress indicator until the VM reaches the new state. The message now confirms the request, for example "start requested".

  • Immersive Live Screen
Connecting from the VM detail screen, or starting a VM with a display from the list, opens the live screen full screen. On tablets the list collapses while the live screen is open and returns when you close it.

  • Untracked Image File Cleanup
An Untracked Files section now appears below the Image Catalog for files that aren't in the catalog and aren't attached to any VM, snapshot, or template, with per-file delete or Delete All, plus matching commands in the in-app CLI.

  • Favorites, Tag Colors & Groups for Templates and Snapshots
The Templates and Snapshots screens now support the same favorite star, tag color, and group assignment already available on the VM list, including group section headers and a group picker/rename dialog. The in-app CLI panel gained matching favorite/tagcolor/group commands for VMs, templates, and snapshots.

  • Help Popup
Help now opens as a dismissible full-screen popup instead of a pushed screen, so it's easy to close and pick up right where you left off.

  • Bug Fix
Fixed Live Screen not reliably sending keystrokes to the guest VM when a hardware keyboard was connected.

  • Consistent Row Actions Rows with a single Remove or Delete action now use a trailing trash button in Networks, Image Catalog, Disk Space, and configuration lists. Duplicate swipe and overflow actions are removed; rows with multiple actions retain their menus and swipes.

  • Serial Ports & SSH Terminal from Live Screen
Live Screen's ⋮ menu now has Serial Ports and SSH Terminal, so you can reach a console or an SSH session without leaving the screen.

1.0 – Oct 7, 2026

  • Virtual Machine Control
Monitor and control every VM on your Mac from your Android phone or tablet — start, pause, resume, restart, suspend, and shut down, with list/grid views, search, filtering, sorting, and bulk actions on several VMs at once.

  • Live Screen
Watch and control a VM's display with touch, a hardware keyboard, mouse, or trackpad. Adaptive frame rate with hardware H.265/H.264 video keeps the picture smooth and low-bandwidth, with USB device attach/detach and memory balloon control for Linux guests.

  • Terminals
A serial console with full ANSI colour, an SSH terminal with password or private-key authentication, and a built-in command line compatible with VirtualProg's vpvm commands.

  • Snapshots, Checkpoints & Templates
Browse snapshots as a list or a visual timeline, create, restore, edit and delete them, and use instant checkpoints and linked clones with a family-tree diagram on macOS 27 or later. Turn any VM or snapshot into a reusable template.

  • Networks & Images
Manage host networks and see how your VMs connect with a network topology diagram, and download macOS and Linux installation images from the built-in catalog.

  • Disk Space & Logs
See exactly what's using space across your VMs, templates, and snapshots, grow a disk or delete what you no longer need, and browse application and per-VM logs with search and live tailing.

  • Security
Master and scoped access tokens, two-factor authentication for sign-in, and an optional fingerprint, face, or screen-lock check for the app itself.

  • Designed for Android phones and tablets
A sidebar layout on tablets and foldables puts your VM list and details side by side. Light, Dark, or System appearance with a choice of accent colours, home-screen shortcuts, and built-in help right in the app that works offline.
