Create Template

The Create Template dialog allows you to save the configuration and disks of an existing virtual machine or a snapshot as a reusable template. This is useful for deploying consistent environments quickly.

Access

You can open the Create Template dialog from two locations:

  1. Control Center
  2. Right-click on a virtual machine.
  3. Choose Create Template from the context menu.

  4. Snapshots Window

  5. Right-click on a snapshot of a virtual machine.
  6. Select Create Template to generate a template from that snapshot.

Fields

  • Source: The name of the virtual machine being used. This field is auto-filled and cannot be edited.
  • Name: Enter a name for your new template. This will appear in the Templates window for future use.
  • Notes: Optional field for adding a description or other helpful context about this template.

How It Works

  • When you create a template, VirtualProg saves the VM's configuration and associated disk image.
  • You can later reuse this template to quickly instantiate new virtual machines with identical settings and disk structure.
