Quick Create Virtual Machine

The Quick Create wizard allows you to rapidly set up a virtual machine with minimal configuration—ideal for testing or quick deployments.

Fields

  • Name: The display name of your virtual machine. This can be changed later.

  • OS: Choose between macOS or Linux. The rest of the setup will adapt based on this selection.


macOS Configuration

When macOS is selected, a restore image (IPSW) is required for installation.

  • Select Restore Image (IPSW): Use the button to select a .ipsw file from disk, or drag and drop it into the provided area.
  • Select macOS Version: Choose from the latest supported version or a specific macOS version to download the corresponding restore image.
  • Download Button: Automatically fetches the selected macOS IPSW from Apple’s servers (requires internet access).

Linux Configuration

When Linux is selected, an ISO image is required for installation.

  • Select Linux ISO: Use the file selection dialog or drag & drop the ISO file into the designated area.

Hardware Settings

  • Processors: Set the number of virtual CPU cores.
  • Memory (MB): Assign RAM in megabytes.
  • Disk Size (GB): Define the size of the virtual hard disk in gigabytes.

Open Advanced Config

  • Modify Configuration After Create: Check this option to open the full VM configuration screen after the wizard finishes, allowing you to fine-tune hardware, devices, and network settings before launching the VM.

Actions

  • Cancel: Dismiss the wizard without saving.
  • Create: Finalizes the configuration and creates the virtual machine. (This button is enabled once all required fields are valid.)
