Take Snapshot

Snapshots capture the entire state of a virtual machine—including its disk and configuration—at a specific point in time. You can restore or convert snapshots into templates for fast deployment or testing purposes.

🧭 How to Access

You can open the Take Snapshot dialog in two ways:

  1. From the Control Center

    • Right-click on a virtual machine.
    • Select Take Snapshot from the context menu.
  2. From the Snapshots Window

    • Click the Take Snapshot ➕ icon in the toolbar.

📝 Dialog Options

  • Name: Enter a descriptive name for your snapshot.
  • Notes: (Optional) Add any details or context for future reference.

Usage

After a snapshot is taken, it will appear in the Snapshots window for that virtual machine. You can:

  • Restore it to revert your VM back to this exact state.
  • Convert it into a template.
  • Manage it just like a regular virtual machine item (tag, favorite, view config).

💡 Snapshots are ideal for preserving known-good states before major software installations, updates, or configuration changes.
